Our Lady has requested that we pray the Rosary in several apparitions. Praying the Rosary is a beautiful way to honor Our Blessed Mother. Another way is to make rosaries.

In 1949, Brother Sylvan of the Xaverian Brothers in Louisville, Kentucky started teaching others to make rosaries. He started with children and then adults. Thus he formed "Our Lady of Fatima Rosary Making Club." The rosaries made were then sent to the missions. From this humble beginning Our Lady's Rosary Makers grew to an apostolate which now numbers about 18,000 members. During 1991 alone they have sent well over six million rosaries to the missions and elsewhere.

Rosary Makers are of all ages, from small children to the very elderly. One woman in her eighties has made about 80,000 rosaries. Among these dedicated workers one finds bankers, lawyers, housewives, many doctors, religious and several bishops. We hope many readers will consider joining this vital apostolate.

Here at St. Thomas More we began our rosary making with Confirmation candidates wishing to do so for their service hours. For the first couple of years we would bring the rosaries we made to a local nursing home. We now supply prisoners through the ministry of Father Jim McDevitt, give them to parents preparing for their child's Baptism, to our shut-ins, and to our First Communicants and Confirmation candidates. Seniors have also come to our aid cutting cords and packaging the rosaries to be given away.

Leisure Club

The Leisure Club is a church organization open to parishioners 50 years of age and older. It meets the first Tuesday of each month at 1:00 PM unless noted otherwise. Members come together to share pleasures with people of similar pursuits. The meetings are held in Petri Hall.

The Club endeavors to help fill some of the needs of our members, both spiritual and social; we are always ready, willing and able to assist the Pastor where needed. Some of our members assist in other ministries such as ushers, counters, etc…

In addition to the monthly meeting, members enjoy many one-day trips during the year, at a nominal charge. Dues are $10 per year.
