The Stewardship Council was formed in early 2006 to address the needs of St. Thomas More from a Stewardship point of view.

This council is to focus on the time, talent, and treasures of our greater parish community and provide an opportunity for parishioners to participate in all aspects of parish life.

The Parish web site www.moremercy.org is operational and is constantly being enhanced. It will be the responsibility of the Web Site Committee to maintain the site and to implement changes as needed.

We need people who have web site programming ability as well as people interested in communicating with parishioners to participate in this committee.

New Parishioner Wine & Cheese Committee

Each quarter new parishioners who have registered during the preceding quarter will be invited to a wine and cheese party to meet the clergy and members of this and other councils of the parish. This will provide an excellent opportunity for new parishioners to ask and receive answers to any questions they may have. This committee will provide the existing parish ministry booklet and supplements to new parishioners and invite them to become involved in parish ministry.

Tithing Committee

Recently the Stewardship Council invited McKenna Tithing Ministry to visit our parish and tell us the value of tithing as a way of life for our parishioners. In two consecutive weekends (September 16/17 & 23/24), people from other parishes in New Jersey spoke at each Mass and shared with us what tithing has meant to them and how in each case it was their commitment to God that was at the core of their decision to tithe.

In connection with these presentations, letters were sent out to every registered parishioner to make them aware of the tithing program. Part of the continuing effort of this committee is to see how we can get the inactive parishioners to recognize that tithing is between them and God and then provide them an easy way to make their tithe.

St. Thomas More has been a Tithing & Stewardship Parish since 1991.
